Need good social programs that provide basic needs. So no to anarchism. But Communism is the happy place

Or - hear me out - we don't base meeting needs on social programmes, but on everyone being entitled to everything they need - this is the Anarcho-Communist way.

Social programs are the efficient way to meet needs

I've always been a supporter of people being supported - whether through government programmes in the situation we are now, or through communities - the support is the important part.

Governments may sometimes meet our needs, at other times they fail to or even get in the way of doing so. However, the government which has the power to help also has the power to take that help away.

Many of our social programmes began as mutual aid programmes - beginning from the community upwards:

"History shows us there are alternatives to either the state or capitalist model of healthcare. Revolutionary Catalonia (1936-1939) developed a decentralised healthcare system run by worker collectives, demonstrating how medical care could be organised without state control or private profit. Likewise, the Welsh miners' medical aid societies had shown how communities could create their own healthcare systems through mutual aid. These examples later influenced more formal systems like Britain's NHS, though much of their non-hierarchical character was lost in the transition to state control."

I am the oldest great grandchild of Enzuls Crimaldi and Procopio Curcuru. Grandma's parents died in her arms in the immigrant worker ghettos in Dearborn Michigan, in the Age of Cholera, which is also known as the Robber Baron Era.

You must accept the richest are always ready to put us in any miserable dying diseased conditions they can get away with. The police didn't come back then to serve anyone but the interests of the richest, in this case they showed up to murder labor organizers and tried to stop the people from demanding safe sewage safe working conditions, 40 hours, pensions, medical care, vacation time, medical time, an end to child labor ad so much more.

I am old enough to tell you plainly Reagan cut lots of oversight that had previously existed. Underfunding agencies then whining about how poor federal programs work is an old Republican strategy.

All of Grandma's brothers and sisters got to go to school except Uncle Nebo- who went to a local gym to learn boxing to be the family's policing function. He was the only one in two generations that didn't marry and have kids. He got the shakes early in life. My great grandparents and I would go to Uncle Nebo 's house to bring him big pots of Grandma chicken soup and fresh fruit and clean a bit. One day a bad smell came out from the front door while we were delivering him this food.

That's what you get without Central planning and coordination and not having each other's backs by formal legal structures. You doom decent people to appoint and to be appointed as Uncle Nebo. You doom people to die of diseases unnecessarily if you don't fight the larger fight that conquers the withholding tendencies of the richest, our newest Robber Barons who need to be knocked from their gilded lifestyles every bit as much as my great grandparents' generation knocked the old ones. Desperate people fought a functional civil war in an urban setting and that didn't get emphasized properly in our history books because it doesn't serve the present Robber Barons.

Anarchy served the old Robber Barons well. Communist/Socialist sentiment is what built our civilization and the only thing that will prevent massive die-offs because those rich fuqqers never gave a dayam but for their profits and they never will. Our choices are to seize the means- the physical assets, imprison them if need be- to extract what we need to run the country ourselves or be a united fist aways raised, always ready to strike their profit extraction schemed and practices.

I agree with you that robber-barons, oligarchs and capitalists of all kinds have always been wiling to take our rights and freedoms away to increase their fortunes.

Both my father and grandfather went on wildcat strikes - out of solidarity for the sake of their comrades more than for themselves, because they realised the suffering of one affected all and a win for them was a win for all.

Anarchists (anti-hierarchists) have always opposed capitalism, and fought alongside other Socialists against it - as most Anarchists are Socialists too.

The Robber Barons have always been anti-Anarchy because they have always been pro-Hierarchy - their hierarchy.

Many of those labour organisers you mention were Anarchists - for Anarcho-Syndicalist unions like the Industrial Workers Of The World. All the Haymarket Martyrs who fought and died for workers rights were Anarchists.

Governments and laws may protect works and social programmes for a while, but they will always inevitably fall to authoritarians or capitalists.

So let's seize the means of production, but then let the workers own and manage them (not the state) - then we can organise and meet peoples needs without one person or group ruling over another.

You lie and betray the essence of those who did fight the anarchy of the ROBBER Barons with the instituting of laws to protect working people from rich psychopaths.

I personally knew the people who fought the ROBBER Barons and NONE of them were ANarchists. Anarchism is what ALLOWED the ROBBER Barons to exist. You lie

It is a pity you are too young to appreciate the layers of oversight that Reagan stripped. Without these layers more Americans have been harmed. There will always be a need for independent oversight because humans are flawed. They don't have to Nazis to make decisions that hurt people. There is no substitution for independent oversight. Reinventing the wheel is foolish. If the Soviets didn't have American Crapitalists sabotaging them they would still exist. Communist Vietnam is also now a happier place. I am deeply disturbed by growing fascism in many places. If we can't stand against them together I am afraid we will fall to them.

You must check out Alejandro Jodowroski's work, the making of the mega-movie, the unfinished 'Dun'e. How that failed project, lead to great movies, including the Star Wars.

I've really been enjoying the Daughters Of Ferrix podcast, I thought you might too! https://www.daughtersofferrix.com/episodes/episode-14-just-like-cassian-andor

They get right into the history and politics of Star Wars from a queer and leftist point of view. I think they strike the balance between taking Star Wars super-seriously and treating it as a fun sci-fi franchise just right.
