I’m not disputing that Catholicism and Zionism (and I’d add Evangelical Christianity too) have had their own propaganda and successes - that doesn’t contradict the underlying point at all, it actually strengthens it - because the means of propaganda they used were capitalist ones - corporate media, corporate sponsored politicians, and aims which also included gaining money and legislation in their favour.
For the sake of brevity I had to cut out a section on how corporate heads also carried out plans to target churches and popular preachers too, to promote a positive view of capitalism. We have the minutes and receipts, but because my short article was just an overview it was another of the many details I missed out.
Beyond the fevered imagination of people like McCarthy I doubt Soviet Leninism (of which I’m no fan) had much impact - not that it wouldn’t have tried - as it lacked easy access to the same channels and was a convenient ‘communist’ bogeyman to be used within the prevailing propaganda. But I’d be interested if you can show me the evidence to the contrary.
